How to go Ubud from Ngurah Rai Airport. (Public Transports)
As i wrote in the title, this time i will share the experience of using public transportation
in Bali island. This island that has
millions of beauty in it feels less friendly if the public transport does not
support tourists who come to this island.
In
this digital era, everything is cashless, unexpensive and all start-up, it’s a
shame if you have to surrender under the monopoly of the transportation
business. Even though one characteristic of developed countries is the
advancement of public mass transport.
My
first flight from Jakarta was estimated to arrive at Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport
at 8:00am WITA. While waiting for boarding, I tried to find alternative
transportation to Ubud.
From
Ngurah Rai Airport to Ubud the distance is no more than 40 kilometers, if we go
there using a private car, then it can be reached in 1 - 1.5 hours. For
comparison, Jakarta - Bogor is 60 km away. Jogja - Solo is also 60 km away.
Which if calculated, the cost of travel for that distance can be very cheap if
we travel by train or public bus.
The
average fare for regular taxi / driver service providers is priced at 200-250
thousand rupiah. Maybe because of the airport, or maybe because Bali is a world
tourist destination. So that fares are considered reasonable.
After
getting an alternative transport solution to Ubud, I boarded to my flight. I have no big hopes for that info and I still think that
I will take a taxi / charter a driver from the airport. Apart from being
sleepy, I also read information that was quite outdated. in 2018 ago.
When
I arrived at the airport, I checked with the GoJek and Grab application. To go
directly from Ngurah Rai Airport to Ubud is priced at 230 thousand Rupiah. Of
course it is more expensive than the fare per kilometer in Jakarta.
1. First, I order gojek (an application on mobile phone) from the Airport to T Galleria. Jl Bypass Ngurah Rai. The fare is 18.000 Rupiah. But for the pickup location, we have to walk a little to the front of the terminal (slightly straight from Solaria) around 300 meters, through the Parking building. The location is right in the courtyard of Masjid Al Ikhlas. If you are confused, you can see google maps. Al Ikhlas Ngurah Rai Mosque.
2. After
arriving at the T Galeria Mall. You try to go behind the parking area, then you
will see the Turtle Bus shuttle parking lot.
3. After
that, you can immediately reserve a seat for the bus, the cost is 80 thousand
Rupiah for oneway, or 60 thousand Rupiah for twoways. And the baggage fee is
charged at 15 thousand Rupiah per pcs for one trip.
4. The
Departure starts at 9 a.m, at 11 a.m. etc. You can check directly on their
official website.
So
for you guys who want to go to Ubud, backpacker and want to save money, you
don't need to be confused anymore. You can use alternative at www.kura2bus.com
Lets
explore Ubud.. A very different atmosphere from Bali that is known to many
people. The night is very quiet, still surrounded by forests, and you’re still
able to feel the cool mountain air (in certain seasons).
A
little addition:
The
bus is equipped with a good internet connection, power outlet and a monitor.
But unfortunately the car is still in the Elf class (like a Minibus), maybe in
the future competitors can make it with Hiace (a little bit bigger than a
regular bus). Because for a long trips, the shock from the Elf is quite
disturbing.
